Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp Empty Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp

    Story.

Once upon a time, humanity... lived on the ground! I know, it sounds incredible, but it's the truth. Back then, it was safer to be on the ground than in the sky-- yes, there were all sorts of wild beasts and disasters, not to mention wars of our own making, but they could be managed.

Something that couldn't be managed was... nature. A natural change in the world, but one ill-suited for humanity. There had long been signs of an approaching ice age, and when the months of ice began, there was mass panic. Billions died, but... others lived. The skycities had existed before the decades of cold and snow, and they became the best place to hide when life on the surface grew worse. They were completely enclosed, climate-controlled and astonishingly durable, able to withstand nearly anything nature threw at them. There were vast greenhouses there, so food was a non-issue... though, admittedly, there was some difficulty raising the likes of cattle, most livestock was reduced to fish, drakes, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and other such small game. The world below perished, while we in the sky survived, even flourished as time went on; creating a grand network of floating cities over what was once the capitol of a prosperous country.

For a time, the greatest trouble we had was travel-- planes and hovercraft were perfectly fine, but there was always demand for something more. Something new and befitting the new aerial world we had. It was no surprise, really, when the Draco project was announced; though there was some laughter. Dragons had been extinct for millions of years, how were they to rise again? The answer lay in, to the shock of many, the common drake. The simple reptiles, good for little more than to be a pet or a meal, were in fact descendants of the great beasts, and combined with the few draconic fossils that had any form of genetic material left, carried the blueprint of their revival.

It took the better part of a century, but it was done. Seventy years, almost to the day of the project's creation and five hundred years after the great migration to skycities, the first true dragon hatched. Since that day, dragons have been an incredibly important part of society-- they provide transportation, companionship, defense against those few monsters that terrorize the skies... is it any wonder, then, why the emblem of the Skylands is a dragon? That being granted the chance to raise one is perhaps the greatest honor a citizen can be given?

    Plot.

Like countless other children growing up in the Skylands, you have grown up with dragons as a daily part of life, and you have at least once dreamed of what it would be like to be among their ranks, astride one of the majestic creatures. The Riders' dragons are sleeker than the common draft dragon, built for speed and maneuverability than carting around heavy goods, not to mention absolutely beautiful. Still, unless you come from one of the richest families, you hold little hope of actually making the cut-- there are hundreds of thousands of applicants every year, why would you be selected? You put your name in as little more than a whim, so you can say later on that at least you tried.

But then, it happens. July 20th, 4769, 3:40 PM. This date and time are forever burned into your mind, for it is when you received the message that will forever change your life. Wherever you were, the communication band on your wrist beeps, and you open your messages to find that you were selected to join the Skyland Riding Academy.

This roleplay begins on the first day, when the selected students arrive. Where it goes from there? Well... you see, there are rumors that maybe, just maybe, the icy conditions have lessened enough for re-habitation of the ground to begin. But those shouldn't concern you, should they? You have bigger things to focus on, like choosing your egg...

(Basically, this is a *hopefully!* long-term adventure-style rp. We'll begin with characters being trained, and eventually move on to exploring the ground and finding a starting settlement, which is certainly easier said than done-- 2,000 years without humanity and the pressures of a major glacial period have changed the surface world beyond recognition, and that's to say nothing of the creatures that inhabit it.)

    Rules.

    • 1. Above all else, I expect effort, both in your characters and your posts. This is a semi-literate roleplay, meaning I expect proper grammar and spelling, as well as decent length posts (4-7 good quality sentences, none of that two or three word per sentence junk). If you have writer's block or can't think of anything, just say so and wait on posting until you have an idea; or if it's a lack of interaction getting to you, feel free to speak up and ask if someone could bring your character back in. Please note, this is a third person POV, past-tense writing style. No first person POV in sheets or in character posts.

    • Need some dialogue or grammar pointers? Want to just brush up on your skills? Tend to misspell things? Here are some resources! In order, they are: how to properly write and format dialogue, a spell checker, and a site with a ton of tips for good grammar and punctuation. This isn't meant to intimidate anyone, far from it! These links are here to help ensure everyone produces their very best work, and that everyone who wants to can join in.

    • 2. All the basic rules apply: do not make invincible characters, do not play someone else's character without permission, do not create Mary Sues/Gary Stus or that one perfect character who has to be important/skilled in every subject; don't get lazy with personalities ('has two sides', for example, is just lazy- EVERY normal person has 'two or more sides' to them, it's called basic emotional reaction. This is a major problem I see in characters, so I'd like to nip it in the bud), all that sort of thing.

    • 3. Avoid excessive or major swearing (made up swears are fine, but for real life ones *save for like... hell and damn, those are minor enough to pass*, just star it out). Don't get overly graphic when it comes to violence. And please, remember that this is NOT a romance rp. While I am not banning romance from developing, it is not the point of the rp, and should be kept to a minimum. And, of course, fade to black if anything major goes on, got it?

    • 4. All characters must be approved by me before you can begin. This helps ensure all characters fit into the setting, are not blatant Sues, and that powers aren't too ridiculous.

    • 5. Players are more than welcome to come up with side-plot suggestions as we go, since this is fairly open-ended. Just PM me with ideas!

    • 6. Rules can be added, removed, or otherwise edited at any time, I often forget some things. I apologize for any inconvenience.

    • 7. You may modify the character sheets within reason- stuff like changing the size/color of the text, just keep it readable. Do not add/remove actual sections. I also ask that you avoid using images/gifs/fontmeme/the like in your posts, as this both counts as spam and can severely slow down people's computers.

    • 8. Every member may make up to one character (I guess two, if you count the dragons as full characters) to begin with, but this is likely to increase as we go. Also, I do not care about gender ratios in either dragons or humans, just play whatever you're most comfortable with.

    • 9. All powers must have SOME logical connection to your character's chosen element. This can be difficult though, so don't be upset if I ask for tweaks. That said, I highly encourage creativity! Don't just make it 'can summon flames/living shadows/etc', do something interesting with it ... within reason, of course. You may have either two attacking abilities, one attacking ability and one passive ability, or just two passive abilities. In every case, make sure there is some kind of drawback, unless your power is extremely minimal.

    • 10. Do not ignore others, try to make sure everyone is included. If you feel your character is ignored, speak up and someone should be able to get to you Smile Do NOT go over a page without my posting.

    • 11. Please make sure to post at least once every three or four days. I won't kick anyone out unless they go like, two weeks without showing up though; I understand school and other real life obligations often get in the way. If you think you will be gone for an extended period of time, give me a PM or mention it in a post somewhere.

    • Want an image to go in your dragon's form? Look here or here! The site also carries a number of free human creators, though there is a major lack of male ones!

'was abandoned/unloved/hated/orphaned but overcome horrible things all by themselves because they're so special and strong' *a bit exaggerated, but you get the point* stories. Besides, orphans are incredibly rare in the skylands, and social services really have their stuff together now. Please have at least three paragraphs of history, covering early life and how they grew up, and why they might have been chosen for the Riders-- did they more or less buy their way in? Were they a great student or athlete? Top of their class when it comes to magic?)

    Character listing.

    The Skylands.

Skycities were originally created some time in the late 2050s, mostly as a means to aleviate population strain on the surface world. Each city floated just above the cloud layer, from where they drew most of their water. The cities were built to be self-sustaining, drawing power from wind and solar energy, and capable of growing enough food in the greenhouses and other gardens to feed up to 300,000 people. Population limits, however, were (and still are) strictly enforced to ensure that there are never more than 250,000 people at any time. By the time the surface became completely unable to sustain human life, there were a total of one hundred of these cities, with a population just shy of 23 million, where it has remained for the past 2,000 years.

Each city is enclosed in a huge dome and about the size of New York City, though nowhere near as densely populated. The largest buildings in each structure are the greenhouses, enormous skyscrapers that house animals on the first few floors, with the rest being dedicated to great hydroponic gardens. The greenhouses are surrounded by the main downtown area-- most work buildings, schools, labs, etc-- and after that, there are the residential and park districts. The most common mode of transportation is, oddly enough, bicycles-- they're quick, provide decent exercise, and don't make any mess. For cargo transport, though, there are hovercrafts; as well as large draft dragon. All skycities are now connected via a system of tunnels (or tubes; think like... a really huge hamster habitat), as well as hatches in the domes for aircraft and dragons to pass through.

The only city that varies in this plan is the Rider's Academy. It has a much higher dome, and only one small block of residential buildings for students and staff. The greenhouse is also much larger, and in addition to supporting many more meat creatures, it houses the hatcheries and stables for young dragons. There are stables located elsewhere for mature dragons, as well as the stadium and training grounds. The Rider's Academy is the central point of the web of Skycities.

A note on magic, technology and appearances.

Since this is a science fiction/fantasy hybrid of sorts, you are allowed to take some liberties with appearances, fashion and technology. This setting draws heavily from the Crystal Spires and Togas trope in some areas, but again, just go with what you feel fits. This is not a post-scarcity setting though, and there are still tiers of rich, poor, and everything in between; and clothing/etc will reflect that status.

Increased sun exposure (the domes protecting the city don't block out quite as much light as clouds do for the surface world) has led to an overall darker average skin tone, though genetic engineering and skin dyeing still means there's a lot of variety, including some very striking markings... but only if you have the money for it. Designer babies are a thing for very wealthy families, though the only thing that still can't be engineered is magical talent, either you're born with it or you're not. Due to the enclosed conditions, hygene is a big thing-- in fact, the cities are virtually germ-free, and have been since the beginning. The upside is that no one ever really gets sick (and if there is an outbreak, it is usually easily contained and treated), but the major downside is that everyone's immune system is shot. So keep that in mind for later on. Things are also extremely clean, and most everything can be broken down and reused in one way or another. No dirt exists in the cities, either, all plants are in hydroponic systems, even the ones in the park areas. Plants are also extremely valuable, and only the wealthy are able to grow their own or afford to buy flowers.

As for magic? It's magic. There is no way to predict who it'll show up in, or what it will manifest as-- indeed, the only things positively known about magic are the following facts:

-It tends to run in families, but can appear spontaneously.
-Always shows up by about age six.
-Always shows up in an 'elemental' fashion, and all powers people can access are related to whatever the overall element is.
-All magic, whether passive or active, consumes energy. Passive abilities constantly sap energy from their users, so those people must make sure to eat more lest they accidentally starve to death; while active abilities use up a large amount of energy in a short time. Too much at once can, will and has caused death. Healing magic is the only one with a universally known energy exchange rate-- to heal a wound or sickness, the caster must expend as much energy as the body would naturally use up fixing things on its own. For smaller wounds, this isn't too much of a problem, but it does mean that life threatening wounds or sicknesses are virtually impossible to heal, all that can be done is maybe making them less severe.

So, that should be it! As long as you remain logical, players are welcome to expand on this and include their own details, I just ask that everyone pays attention to what becomes established or denied.

    A Brief Index of Creatures.

Dragon: Once occurring in the wild, dragons went extinct millions of years before the modern age. About 1,500 years ago, dragons were rebuilt by Skyland scientists in order to improve travel and provide better defense against the other beasts that prowled the skies, as well as create a living symbol of their new world. Dragons were a massive success, and there are two major types-- the larger 'draft' dragons, plain in appearance and huge in size, responsible for transporting goods and people between large areas; and the smaller 'riding' dragons. While draft dragons are bred and trained to be as calm and compliant as possible for any master, riding dragons must be raised from the egg by a single handler in order to be properly trained.

Riding dragons also have a telepathic bond with their rider, as all young dragons have with their natural parents. During their early weeks, dragons can only communicate through general impressions and images (for example, a hungry hatchling might send the image of a chicken and the sensation of intense hunger pangs to make their point), though they start picking up on actual words at about a month or two old. They are incapable of physical speech. Like their riders, all dragons have some minor elemental power to attack or defend with, in addition to their claws, teeth, and tough scales. Riding dragons are about 7' tall, and come in a massive variety of colors, markings, and personalities. Draft dragons live about twenty years, while riding dragons average 90.

Drake: Prized for their potential as pets and delicious meat, the common drake has a number of applications. They are about the size of a border collie and about as intelligent, easy to train and quite friendly. They resemble small, wingless dragons, and usually live about ten years.

Gryphon: A scourge in all times, the gryphon has become positively demonized since the migration to skycities. Enormous (about half again the size of a riding dragon), powerful, and resistant to extremes such as ice and even fire, only a well-trained squad of dragonriders can dispatch a gryphon. They come in many varieties, though all have the common trait of avian fronts, feline hindquarters, and massive wings. No one is entirely sure how long a gryphon lives.

Rocs: The only thing worse than a gryphon is a roc. These birds blot out the sun when they fly over the cities, and rider units are sent out only to try and drive the beasts away rather than actually kill them. Thankfully, rocs prefer mountainous areas, and the skycities are currently nowhere near any at the moment. They are also generally less aggressive than gryphons, usually only passing overhead and taking little notice of the cities below.

More to come, these are the only important ones at the moment.

    Character name:
    Isaac Kross

    Gender:
    Male

    Age:
    20

    Personality:
Isaac's personality is usually lighthearted and with goodwill. He is very rarely stern unless need be, but also knows when to keep a level head when the situation calls for it. His demeanor is tall though, always standing straight with proud shoulders; he was taught to have pride in who he was, even if he is just a middle class citizen. His smooth deep voice is able to be heard clearly and without restraint, he has a light air of confidence, enough to where others can still approach him but with some level of caution. Isaac is often considered the thinker of his family, always the one to question something and ask if this is truly how life is meant to be. His aspirations make him look continuously to the skies, where his dream to be a Dragon Rider is about to come true.

"To always persevere." This was a constant reminder his grandfather would drill into him. The Rich and poor are only sustained by the middle class. Isaac was taught this strict teaching from his seasoned grandfather as well, "The poor are taken care of by us and the rich are only rich because they drain the poor and use the middle as their stable pillars." Though it may seem harsh at first, the middle is there for a reason and Isaac does indeed feel the pressure of being the 'stable pillar'. His family works the trade and commerce to the Rich. Constantly delivering goods from the agriculture stations and also hand raising purebred drakes for the wealthy as pets. This leads to him also having a gentle hand when dealing with the canine-sized drakes, and also learning how best to communicate with them through body language.

All in all, Isaac's personality is strong in appearance with a soft soul beneath. People willingly speak their problems to him without much effort, since he has the presence of an open listener. A trait he also uses when handling the Drakes his family breeds. A gentle hand with an open heart, he also knows when to be stern though, but will more than likely go out of his way to help someone in their time of need.

    Appearance:
Isaac is a lean 6'2" height for a male, which also permits him to be a few inches taller than most. His skin is a light dark hue, due to being in the sun most of his days, with eyes that are stark green against his tanned skin. His hair is a light brown, which nearly touches his shoulders and stops neatly at the nape of his neck. Often times he will just pull it back into a small pony tail, to keep his bangs out of his face when riding, and rarely lets it flow unless asleep or bathing. His usual attire consists of normal dark pants with rider straps and tall knee high boots, to help stay on his dragon and for gripping the saddle. He wears a casual loose fitting white long sleeved shirt with a worn leather vest, and two belts upon his waist to carry his things. Isaac also keeps his face neatly cleaned while retaining a small outlining of stubble lining his jaw to his chin, creating a clean cut beard in the making, without all the bush.

He is of average appearance and would not catch someone's eye immediately. Rather, he is the type of man whose attractiveness is shown over time than upon first look. Isaac is lean and has a strong middle class build to him. Working most of his days to get where he is now, Isaac is built for strength like any man, but also wields a hidden agile to his more lethal frame. He has a somewhat sharp appearance to him, mainly due to his more oval shaped face with a pointed chin that squares off slightly. His nose is also sharp in appearance, while his eyes are more round, giving him a happy youthful expression most times. However, he can take on the appearance of a face filled with daggers when angry, but that takes quite a lot of doing on someone else's part.

    History:
Isaac's history is not very elaborate to say the least, and is quite normal. His family is middle class and deals in trade an commerce. What they are more known for is their breeding of small purebred drakes which they deliver to the rich. Only the finest Drakes are bred by the Kross family and they are known for their strong lineage and even tempers. The only notable history to his family name is that his great grandfather was once a Dragon Rider, and the only real reason anyone would take a second glance at him is if they heard the surname Kross. His Great Grandfather, Garret Kross, was known for his sacrifice against a Roc which attacked almost more than a century ago. Both he and his dragon gave their lives to save their city and thus earned some remembrance in doing so. But alas, that was a long time ago and very few remember the name these days. No, Kross Commerce is simply known for it fine breeding of Drakes and supplies but not much else. Little credit is given to the name expect for the few who may remember it at the academy.

To focus more on his families magic abilities; this also started back to his great grandfather, who was very talented in light magic. This magical ability was passed down to his son as a more weaker light user, and to his son who became affiliated with fire magic. This lead them to believe that Isaac would also share the traits in either light or fire magic as those before him. It came as quite a surprise when he turned six years old that he was of neither traits. Isaac has always had a fear of the dark that has never left him since he was a child. It would seem fate played a cruel joke on the boy when he was six and made the very shadows envelope him as he screamed in fear. They obeyed reluctantly, and Isaac always makes sure to have some sort of light to cast the shadows away from him. He wanted to be like the Great Garret Kross! An ample user in light magic! Yet he was cursed with the darkness, and has quite an affinity for it as well even though he rejects it.

Isaac understands that if you have magic that you must learn how to use it. He did well in his classes when he was in school and could have excelled far more if not for his fear of the dark. His family has good enough connections though, and even hired a private dark magic user to help him overcome his fear. So far it has been helpful, but he still hesitates to use it and would much rather relay on his own two hands to get the job done. This did not stop him from applying for the Academy though, and when a message arrived with words of having yet another Kross at the Academy would be a privileged, he wasted little time in packing and making his way there to finally live up to his ancestor's name.

    Elemental affinity:
    Darkness

    Powers:

    • 1.Shadow Reave
A powerful dark active attack that wraps the soul and mind in fear. Isaac has warped the darkness to reflect his own fear for it, and thus, thrusts this upon his foes. This attack is more mental than physical though, and only lasts for a short time. It does however, leave mental scaring which causes the foe to scream horrifically at unseen fears and a never ending abyss which swallows the mind if the inflicted allows it to overtake them. The only downside to this ability is that Isaac has never been able to conjure it on his own. Only when he is frightened or enraged does this ability become unlocked to him, and even then it takes a lot out of him to even cast it once. A spell which can also ultimately claim his life if he is not careful.
    • 2.Dark Respite
A passive ability, Isaac is able to use the night to envelope him in a shadowy cloak. Though he does not enjoy this, he was taught by his dark magic teacher how best to cope with it, and use the darkness as a comforting blanket to hide his being. He becomes one with the darkness as long as he makes nary a noise to disrupt the peace. If standing still and without breathing, Isaac can temporarily disappear into the night and slip by others unnoticed. This is probably the only dark magic he has been able to cope with so far and can use it more often. It takes little effort to call upon the shadows to shroud him in darkness but also limits what he can do while under it's protection.

    Theme song?
    Departure
    ---------------
    Dragon information:

    Name:
    Daiyu (Black Jade)

    Gender:
    Female

    Personality:
Vain is the least of your problems with this dragon. Daiyu is certainly not afraid to bristle up at other's of her species, especially since she is so small and lean in stature. Her body is neatly riddled with spines, as if the world knew she needed even more reason to be prickly. She is a biter of course, and loves to nip painfully at passerby's just to see their angered reaction! Daiyu was a little she-devil the moment she hatched, and Isaac has been pushed to even his own limitless patience with her. Daiyu does show unnatural kindness though when Isaac gives up, as if to apologize for going too far...which will then lead right back up to her nipping at his ear or pulling at his hair! She has a nasty habit of screeching a high pitched chir, just to upset the other dragons or riders when she feels she does not have the attention of her own rider. Daiyu also dislikes the company of other dragons as well, and will often hiss and bare her fangs as she flares her wings and spines to appear larger than she really is.

Truthfully though, Isaac is at his wits end with her at most times, but can not deny that she certainly makes up for what he lacks. Figures he gets paired up with a dragon with an affinity to dark magic as well. At least Daiyu has little problem in using her abilities. Now to just get her to learn to quit biting the hell out of everyone!

    Appearance:

    Egg:
A small oval shaped egg that is more of a silvery shadow color, with a gleam of dark violet across it's smooth surface.

    Daiyu

    Elemental affinity and powers:
    Darkness

    • 1.Dark Decent
A passive ability, the little dragon plunges from the sky in the dead of night, calling the darkness to shroud her form in a silent shadow. Her wing beats are no longer heard and her enemies search frantically for their assailant among the stars, when in truth they should just look behind them. This shroud of darkness is broken once she breaks cover however but gives her the element of surprise in a fight.
    • 2.Hell's Shadow
Daiyu's body is enveloped with a black fire that licks and leaps from her scales to hungrily feast upon her attackers. This dark fire lusts for other's to devour in it's black flames and causes a frenzy when she feels she is overwhelmed in a fight. Daiyu only resorts to this attack when she feels absolutely threatened and sees no way out. A magical defense mechanism that can also take the dragon's life if she is not careful. The hellish flames care not for what they feast upon, as long as flesh burns at their touch, they are satisfied with whomever they lay claim to. Be it man or the dragon itself. This can only be used once on rare occasions and still it is strongly advised not to unless under dire circumstances.

    Username:
    Commander Shepard.

    Character name:
    Charlotte Gray.

    Gender:
    Female

    Age:
    19

    Personality:
Dedicated to the point of idiocy sometimes, Charlotte is the sort who, once set on a task, wouldn't let hell itself get in the way of completion. She loathes anyone who believes that they should just be given good things in life, her mentality is that one should only get what they've actually worked to earn. She can be a bit of an overachiever and perfectionist, pushing herself to exhaustion just to prove she can go above and beyond anyone else. She can come off as cold and selfish to others, focusing on her own wants and needs before helping with anyone else's. Still, she is an extremely hard worker, and if there isn't anything pressing at the time, she is somewhat pleasant to be around.

    Appearance:

In terms of a first impression, Charlotte is best described as... plain, though most people pass her off as shabby. Her clothes are mostly handed down from older siblings, and range from worn but nice, to clearly patched and repaired many times. Hair is dark brown and fairly long, usually worn in a braid that reaches midway down her back. Eyes are a light brown/amber-ish color, and she has visible dark circles and lines from many sleepless nights. Fairly tall with a strong, solid build, and she bears a few scars from incidents with angry animals-- the worst, a large pale line on her hand, is actually from a duck, though she'd never admit it.

    History:
In the Skylands, the station you are born in is often the only station you will ever have. The rich may become less rich, but save for some horrible scandal, it is rare that they ever become poor. The poor nearly never become rich, and indeed, the most they can hope for is to make their way into serving one of the better off families. Charlotte was born into the latter group. For as long as anyone could remember, her family worked in the greenhouses, performing very menial tasks-- checking water and nutrient levels, making sure the windows were clean, feeding and cleaning the animals. Charlotte was no exception to this-- when she wasn't in school, she was usually the one feeding the ducks or rabbits and cleaning out their habitats.

For the most part, she had accepted that this would probably be her place forever, but like most children, Charlotte still dreamed. Unlike most of those dreamers, though, she did everything she could think of to try and make it a reality, often forging sleep in order to pursue extra credit schoolwork and other studies, or else practicing with her magic. Still, while teachers did often praise her skills (she was never the absolute best in classes, but she usually was in the top tier), any real opportunities always seemed to be given out to other students. Students who didn't spend most of their free time shoveling drake dung.

Putting in her name for the Riders was Charlotte's last hope in being able to pull herself up out of the servant's life, at least as far as she could think. She'd given up any hope of being able to make anything of her life, really-- if she couldn't even get into some of the extracurricular activities in school, what hope did she have of being picked for something as prestigious as the Riders? Charlotte had nearly forgotten all about it by the time summer rolled around. When the message came, she could hardly believe it. She passed it off as a joke at first, but once her work was done and she could take the time to verify things... well, there was no denying it. She was in, and a week after getting the message, Charlotte found herself packed up and moving out to the Academy.

    Elemental affinity:
    Light.

    Powers:

    • 1. Star Maker: Charlotte can create orbs and pillars of light (orbs range from barely a pinprick to the size of a beach ball) and can create them in several colors, too. These lights will not burn, but they can be extremely startling and even blinding depending on how, when and where they're deployed. In order to fuel this power, must spend several hours in the sunlight during the day-- not a problem in the cities, since they're above the clouds, but it could be problematic once on the ground.

    • 2.Laser:
She hasn't quite gotten the hang of this power yet, but with enough concentration, Charlotte can concentrate light into a tight beam which will cut and burn through most objects with little resistance. However, this is only usable in short bursts, or unusable at all if she didn't get an adequate amount of sunlight during the day. Control of this beam is also a delicate matter, and a single lapse in concentration can be very dangerous.

    Other: N/A.

    Theme song?
    Strobe.
    ---------------
    Dragon information:
    Name:
    Bronte

    Gender:
    Male

    Personality:
Sweet and gentle, but a bit... dim. He isn't as haughty or vain as most other riding dragons, mostly due to the fact that his lineage is dotted with common draft dragons. Bronte can be rather timid most of the time, shying away from any human or dragon who seems... confrontational. (Will mostly be played out).

    Appearance:
    Egg:
Larger than most of the others, with a thick brown shell. Markings are very dark brown speckles along the bottom.

    Hatched:
Here. He is somewhat larger than most dragons, this and his dull appearance comes from his draft dragon lineage.

    Elemental affinity and powers:
    Earth.

    • 1. Bounty:
A passive ability, Bronte's magic naturally encourages plants to grow stronger, or (though this is currently unknown) the ground to become more fertile. He has no control over this, either to increase or decrease the influence, and it does constantly sap her energy. Because of this, Bronte needs to eat more than the average dragon in order to stay strong.
    • 2. Earthquake:
Currently unknown. On the ground, Bronte will be capable of creating large fissures and tremors, good for knocking enemies off balance. However, this requires him to stay in one place for a while, leaving him open for attack.

    Other: Can't think of anything.

Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp Empty Skylar Hayes

Post  Skeseth Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:26 pm

    Username: Skeseth
    Character name: Skylar Hayes
    Gender: Female
    Age: 18
Personality: While I'd like to RP her out, Skylar can be as stereotypical as her firey elemental magic would say. Tempermental, fiesty, but in reality... she's definitely uncertain in a new situation. As someone who has been a middle class and average overall in school (besides in magic, which she whips out quite literally if someone messes with her), she never stood out overall. Being accepted to be a rider, she's awed to have the chance and unsure as to who she will be meeting. She has reservations believing that they are all from rich families, stuck up, not approachable for someone like her... While also being wary as far as how competition will be like. She never stood out in her studies, but she is very determined to make her dream come true and therefore do everything to be top in the class at the academy. Overall, her temper is definitely short, and she can be easy going and fun if the others say so.

… Also, this is a girl that can create actual fire, preferably a fire whip. She has a tendency to show that off and go overboard. Can you say pyromaniac? If she is bored, there will be fire, even if it's just manifesting it and turning it off.
Appearance: Amber-gold eyes and brown hair streaked with golden highlights reflect really well with her tan skin. She is not quite as dark as many, which is likely from living more indoors than she does outdoors. She is average in height at around 5'5” and wears very casual basic clothing.

    Skylar Hayes
History: Not entirely from the rich class, more higher middle class, Skylar comes from two parents that work with the animals in the greenhouses, her father a veterinarian and mother a technician. They make sure the animals are healthy, help with growing the food stock, and help any of the sick animals to at least keep them healthy until they can be shipped off to the slaughter. It was a good match. Her father was a normal man that enjoyed his work throughout his life, always knowing what he wanted to do. Her mother, however, dreamed of the dragons all her life but eventually settled. Her mother actually had been born with weak air magic, which runs throughout her family, and as such had named her daughter Skylar in the hopes that eventually her daughter will inherit what seems to run in the family... But what developed instead was a fiery fire power that could not be controlled. And as such, with these abilities, Sky grew up exactly the stereotypical girl people would think: Fiery, fiesty, with big dreams.

Ever since she had been young she had wanted to work with the dragons, even if in an indirect way. Shovel dung for the rest of her life? … Well, okay, but so long as it had a way to advance. Maybe. Her family was by no means very wealthy or had connections, but she felt like she had a chance to be accepted into the Riders Academy. In no way did she stand out, however, in anything but her offensive abilities with magic. It got her into trouble, of course, but she tried her best to stay out of that as she still loved her parents dearly. Tried being the keyword. With as many punishments as she's had with her teachers, for fighting or otherwise, it was a surprise she was even considered. She was average in schoolwork, not entirely an outcast but neither was she in the more popular crowd. There was only one thing she really wanted to do in her life, and if not she was doomed to try to follow in her parents' footsteps and working with the animals.

After finishing school she had already slunk into a dark mood, worried as she helped in the greenhouse, beginning under her mother. She refused to believe that she was going to be working with the same boring little creatures for the rest of her life, and checked her messages every day. When it finally came, it is said that there was a It was her fierceness in magical skills that set her out for a future rider. While she was not motivated in her studies, she was motivated to be a rider, and somehow she stood out to be accepted into this prestigious academy for the future her mother dreamed of and now her daughter has been able to achieve.

    Elemental affinity: Fire
    Powers:

    • 1.Fire Whip It is her trademark power, creating a tangible whip of flame that whips out at her attackers. At least, it is a stinging burning pain (besides the pain of being whipped), at worst, she has trained long enough to be able to hold onto the fire and push her power through long enough to wrap the whip around a solid object and burn through it (depending on the flammable object). It still requires training, as the more power she needs to burn her target or melt her target more, the weaker she gets and can actually hold the tangible fire whip.
    • 2.Fireproof As it goes, being able to actually create fire, she actually cannot be harmed by it. She has found it out as a young age, which is good because she was attracted to flames like a moth to light.

Other: Er, kinda wrote it out fast and can tweak if it does not make sense, or change things. ^^
Theme song? Will definitely look for a fiery song for her! Will take awhile Smile
    ---------------
    Dragon information:
    Name: Azarin
    Gender: Female
Personality: Wary, mischievous, loves shiny things... She is into thieving... She would get away very well in the shadows if it were not for her golden color and that bright bright tail. Will flesh it out more or through RP.
    Appearance: Az
    Elemental affinity and powers: Fire

    • 1.Fire-Tipped Tail Her constant fire-tipped tail... This golden light can be bright or dim depending on the dragon's will, and overall is unable to hurt anyone-- strictly a light source. At the same time, it can be heated up to be used for warmth, or perhaps painful, but does not really work well in any form of attack other than the other dragons would not want to bite the tip of her tail. It also correlates with her emotions and health. A sick Az will never have a bright big flame on her tail.
    • 2.

Other: (Anything that doesn't fit into the above).

Post  Guest Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:37 pm

Might as well at least TRY it ><

    Username: DracosCanine
    Character name: Enyo Crow
    Gender:Female
    Age: 18
Personality: Short tempered, anti-social, very blunt, protective, loyal, kind once ya get past that prickly surface, respect must be earned. the rest shall be rp'ed if i forgot anything.
Appearance: rather heavily built for a female. Short, spikey, raven hair with a thick red streaks on her bangs. She wears a black tanktop with a hoodie jacket over it with the number 4 on the shoulders. Dark pants with a chained red belt, a dragon spiral belt buckle attached. She usually prefers black boots over anything else for her feet. Her eyes are a bright electric blue, always looking distant and cold.
History: Enyo began her life in the Middle Class of Skylands, living fairly alright financially. Social life was a different matter, being shunned by her peers and a natural out cast and under-dog caused her already natural temper to increase. Her father left her and her mother at an early age, causing even more bitterness towards people. Only her mother and their pets over the years are who she really depended on.
Even at an early stage, Enyo was fascinated by dragons, watching as many times as she could the Riders practice and soar over the city. Dragons were so strong and valiant to her and she swore she'd become a Rider one day. At the age of fifteen financial trouble escalated, causing the family to move to the poor class of Skyland's citizens. New reasons arose for her to train hard to be a Rider, to accomplish a life dream and help her mother. Close combat quickly became her favorite type, learning most trial and error and long hours of self training.
    Elemental affinity:Lightening
    Powers:

    • 1. "Spark Punch" (Focuses some of her power into her fist or object. Physical contact causes an electric current to be transferred to the opponent, causing temporary muscle paralysis)
    • 2.

Other: "Adrenaline" (a passive ability that is always present. Electric currents stimulate the muscles giving a massive boost in reflexes)

    Theme song? "Confession" (c) Red

    • 1. "Lightning Strike" (Gathers energy inside the sack in his throat, creating a bolt of lightening when released)
    • 2.

    [b]Other:
"Energy Field" (this is a passive ability, making the dragon always have an invisible covering of energy or "static".

Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp Empty Re: Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp

Post  Guest Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:48 pm

    Username:
    Ashenjay 'Jay'

    Character name:
    Kala Lahiri
(means 'black' in Hindu, and also derives from the goddess of war and chaos, Kali)

    Gender:
    Female

    Age:
    17

    Personality:
    Intellectual;;
She loves studying, reading, and learning about new things, and is quite clever. She understands things quickly and is always willing to learn and is open-minded.
    Trusting;;
She easily trusts strangers; she is very friendly to anybody.
    Adventurous;;
Eager about whatever 'new' things, Kala is open to adventures and new skills that can well, be a bit dangerous but still intriguing. Despite her non-athletic flaw she at least tries.
    Honest;;
Well, there's nothing to lie about. Kala is extremely honest; though she won't say bad things about others aloud, and keep secrets, she won't lie without a major reason.
    __________________
    Shallow;;
Having grown in a rich background, it's hard for Kala to understand the hardship of students from worse conditions. She tries to understand, but still; it's hard for her to imagine a life different from hers. She tends to be carefree and doesn't think to deeply about problems; optimistic, but not helpful.
    (too) Unperturbed;;
As mentioned above, she is rarely troubled by minor events and will remain optimistic and cheery; this is good for 'team spirit' but in truth, quite annoying and unhelpful at times. Though she may have lots of knowledge about magic and others, she is not socially helpful.

    Appearance:
I will draw the appearance later.
But basically- she has dark raven hair, which is slightly longer than shoulder-length and is quite silky than crisp. She prefers to tie them in a ponytail when she does activities for convenience.
Her skin is beige-brown. She has large golden'puppy' eyes, which are friendly and inquisitive. A first impression on her will be cheerful and optimistic, but may appear a bit too immature and ridiculously unperturbed. Like a person who hasn't faced real danger before(which is true). She is 165cm tall; well, not to tall but not that short. She doesn't really care about fashion trends, but will prefer dark, muted colors and clothes that are comfortable for all activities. During normal times she prefers wearing a simple dress that comes up to her knees, with a scarf draping around her shoulders with the ends slid in between her arms and her torso.

    History:

She was one of the luckier people in the Skylands; rich family, good education and childhood. Many of her relatives were dragon riders themselves, while the non-magical members owned a large company which had many good quality rider objects (such as leather straps, seats, or whatever they need). Her parents were loving and wanted her to have a good future, and when they discovered her abilities almost immediately they chose her future for her, in a way.

Kala had always loved dragons since when she was very young- and had strong Poison element magic. Her family members usually had elemental affinities which were more positive, it was a surprise that Kala had darker ones, and it was quite ironic, for Kala was a bright and eager girl. Some of her cousins and relatives were 'freaked out' by the fact the 6-year-old could kill them with her silent, yet deadly magic. However, her grandparents, parents, and plenty of others were not disturbed and were instead, glad to see the strong magical potential she held. Kala, being a young child during the time she discovered her magic, did not understand why some people shied away. Later on she realized that they were afraid she, as a little girl, did not know the severity of death and her magic and couldn't trust her. Since this was a quite logical action, Kala understood those scared people.

Her family was the overprotective type, and Kala was always being 'stalked' by her family members. However she wasn't the rebellious type of person, even during puberty, and had a strong bond with her relatives who trusted her to use her magic in the right way. When she was about fourteen, the relatives who had been scared of her powers gradually returned to her side. Fourteen was old enough to know what was dangerous and what was not. Surely a teenager would not kill a friend, even by accident, because of a tiny dispute!

Before she tried out for the Academy she liked to spend a lot of time reading and studying about the history, origins, and dragons and magic in general. Preferring to study than exercise, she was not very athletic, though she found no trouble because of this flaw. Most of the time she was found in libraries, and would eagerly look at thick books which seemed too complex for somebody her age. Being an eager reader, soon she could decipher various languages and read quickly and accurately.

When she was 17 years old, immediately she tried out for the Academy. Being from one of the richer families, having good education and background, a love for dragons and magical abilities; it wasn't that much of a surprise when she got in. The message claimed that Kala had been chosen due to her quick understanding and intelligence.(Though Kala suspected there could have been a slight bribery involved.) However, the problem was, because she had lived in an enclosure among friends and families she doesn't know much about socializing and acting on her own thoughts, and might have some trouble living by herself- and some other students whom she doesn't know- in the Academy. Nontheless, Kala eagerly went to the Academy...

    Elemental affinity:
    Poison

    Powers:

    • 1.Indirect Poisoning
Kala can add poison to a plant/animal. The thing won't be effected, but once a larger animal eats it, the predator will be poisoned. However this only works in 1 transfer (e.g Nuts -> Mice -x-> Hawk) and can be healed by riders with healing magic. Also, humans are unaffected and animals such as gryphons are. Small animals like drakes will be immediately pained and might writhe on the ground, while larger animals such as gryphons will not be affected that much but will feel drowsy and will be slowed down in actions. Huge predators like rocs may even be totally uneffected except for a small, drowsy nap.

    • 2. Direct Poisoning
Kala has the ability to cast a poisoning magic, which will result in immense pain and paralyze a person. When she uses her magic, the other person will have poison in their veins, usually starting from the tips (fingers/toes/whatever) and slowly become black. However, this does not fatally harm the person and only causes pain, which immediately goes away when Kala stops her magic.

    Other:
Her name is all Hindu related xD
    Just felt like it ^W^
She doesn't swear, and she has good manners.

    Theme song?
    Nah xD
    ---------------
    Dragon information:
    Name:
    Moineau

    Gender:
    Male

    Personality:
Strong-willed and loyal, he will do anything that Kala wants. He loves his partner and is very protective of her.
Though usually he is a bright and lovable dragon, when Kala is endangered or when somebody annoys her even a bit, he will come to the rescue. He has quite a sense of humor, and telepathically Kala and he like to joke around.

    Appearance:
Slim, feather-winged; he is golden brown, with deep blue eyes. Twining, glowing white swirly markings climb their ways up from the tip of his tail, and on his left front leg. He has smoothly curved golden horns. When he uses magic his eyes tend to glow, and he can shine brightly as to block anybody from looking at him. He is small even for a riding dragon(6'5"), but good enough to ride.

    Elemental affinity and powers:
    Healing

    • 1. Healing
It's not like he can heal fatal wounds in a matter of seconds(...) however, he has the ability to make major wounds better and stop blood flowing out of them. He can make the healing process faster. Though he hasn't shown this ability because of the hygenic city, he can 'chase away' germs such as colds. For unknown poisoning or odd issues, he may not be able to heal them but can usually identify the cause, too. However, the healing process takes away a lot of his energy thus it's hard to perfectly heal a fatal wound without killing himself. It takes just as much energy for actual healing process; healing a naturally impossible thing will take his own life. He is uneasy about his ability and must be careful with it.

    • 2. Unknown
Being a young and inexperienced dragon, and a bit of a runt, he hasn't discovered other abilities yet.

    Other:
His lineage leads up to the most agile, smallest of the riding dragons, and no drafts were included in his family tree; making him the slim kind of dragon, and is perfect for riding but not for draft-jobs. And for some unknown reason he has an extreme phobia of gryphons.

Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp Empty Re: Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp

Post  Guest Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:57 pm

    Username: Sarill

    Character name: Zara Ashton
    Gender: Female

    Age: 19

Personality: Zara is very determined. She is tough, and will not let herself be pushed around. She is cold around strangers, and often seen as standoffish. Zara does not show her emotions to people who she does not know very well. She gets angry fairly easily, and holds grudges for a long time. She hates incompetent people, and people who act like they know everything. To her friends, however, she is extramly loyal and would never betray them unles they do something to lose her trust.

Appearance: Zara is tall for a girl, standing at six feet one inch. She is wiry and skinny. Despite her lack of overt muscling she is strong enough to get what is needed done. She has naturally brown hair, but dyes it a light icy blue. Her hair falls midway down her neck, and she has piercing blue eyes.

History: : Zara came from a fairly rich family. Not top of the pack, but up there. She was always well-off, never having to worry about where her next meal was coming from or whether her family could pay the bills. Her father worked in agriculture, monitoring and planning the food source of the city. Her mother watched the children, and worked to build social connections. The family was new money, not old wealth that dated far back. Zara’s family like the status, however, and climbed socially whenever possible.

The family consists of three children. Zara is the oldest child, and the least interested in her parents’ social climbing. She is silent at group gatherings, and evades the meetings whenever possible. When she is forced to attend, she sits of to the side, glaring at anyone who has the nerve to attempt to converse with her. The second child in her family is Malio, her sister. Malio is very social, and enjoys the large parties that her parents throw. She is the daughter that the parents always wanted, one who they can show off to their rich friends. The third and youngest child is the only boy, Koen. He is a wild child most of the time, but can be very composed when he deems it necessary. Despite the fact that Zara is not what her parents were looking for in their first-born child, she was very well brought-up and treated like her siblings.

Because of her parents’ wealth, Zara went through a succession of very good schools. All throughout, she was a decent student, nothing extraordinary. The area that she really excelled in was magic. Zara was dedicated to the study of the mystic arts. After discovering that she possessed the talent, much to her delight, she took it upon herself to learn as much as possible about her gift. She can become obsessed in her study of magic, and will completely immerse herself in any new books that she discovered on the subject. Her love of magic prompted her to attempt to become a dragon rider. She sent the application in, never dreaming that she would actually be accepted to join the prestigious ranks.

    Elemental affinity: Ice

    Powers
    • 1. Temperature Regulation: Zara naturally pulls in heat from the atmosphere around her. This keeps her body at a higher temperature than normal. When she is working with ice, she pulls the heat out of the ice that she is working with to keep it solid and cold. When she is in a cold environment she never gets cold, as she pulls the heat out of her environment. However, this ability is hard to turn off in a hot environment, and she can overheat if she does not get enough fluids in her. (passive)

    • 2.Ice Project: Zara can project shards of ice at a target. The ice is anywhere from the size of her hand to as long as her forearm. She can mold the ice into shapes as necessary upon contact with the target. This can be used to injure or restrain. This power is only effective within a twenty foot radius of Zara. Any farther away and she cannot control the ice. This power draws water out of the air, and the heat energy goes into Zara. She cannot use this in severe heat, and this power takes a lot of energy out of her. She needs to rest and cool down after using this power.

    Other: None for now

Theme song?None currently, I might find one later

    Dragon information:

    Name:Setta

    Gender:Male

Personality: Setta is a very lively dragon. He is extremely fond of his rider, Zara, and will do practically anything to please her. The bond goes both ways, however, and Zara will do whatever is necessary to please Setta, whom she is enamored with. Setta loves lying out in the sun and will do so for hours on end. He has a fascination with bright colors and anything that sparkles. Zara often brings him odds and ends of sparkly items, and Setta keeps them together in what he fondly refers to as his hoard. Despite his general good nature, Setta goes into a fierce rage whenever anyone he cares about is hurt. He is very hard to control in his rage, and is fiercely loyal to Zara and anyone who he perceives as his friend.

Appearance: Setta is a light gold color. He is thin and wiry, but very streamlined and fast. Picture to follow eventually.

    Elemental affinity and powers: Light
    • 1.Enhanced Vision: Setta can see far beyond normal for his race. He bends the light as it enters his eyes, allowing him to see much farther than normal, with amazing accuracy. However, this power makes him very sensitive to drastic changes in light. (passive)

    • 2.Light Burst: Setta sends out a ball of light, the intensity varying depending on the amount of energy used. This can range from the size and brightness of a flashlight beam to a burst of blindingly powerful light. The downside of this is that on high intensity he can hinder his allies as well as his enemies, as well as practically sending a beacon announcing ‘I am here’. (active)

Other:When he fights, Setta uses his magic to distract his enemies while he goes in for the kill physically, with his claws, teeth, tail and wings. Setta and Zara work together when fighting. The reflectiveness of Zara’s ice is the perfect surface for Setta to bounce light off of, distracting the enemies further.

[[Bena and Skee, both your characters are accepted. Ash, I would like a few changes on yours-- mainly the powers and personality. Just try to add in a few more downsides to both, Kala just seems... flat (neither negative trait actually seems all that negative, more like... annoying-is but tolerable at best), right now. As for the powers, I'm just going to have to cut out poisoning, period. I know you've tried, and I thank you for that, but certain death from the indirect poisoning is way too overpowered, especially since you haven't mentioned any form of antidote. I also ask that you make sure to include some drawbacks or clearer limitations of the healing ability-- remember, magic here works on the energy principle. Healing magic would require the caster to expend as much energy as it would take the body to naturally deal with a wound/sickness over time.]]

I also ask that you make sure to include some drawbacks or clearer limitations of the healing ability-- remember, magic here works on the energy principle. Healing magic would require the caster to expend as much energy as it would take the body to naturally deal with a wound/sickness over time.]]

    Hmm, I see.
I'll try to change the things :3.
Oh, and I just changed the element to poison(not sure if it was already edited or not)- and I will add some antidote and problems in poison.
For the dragon, he now has the Healing element and I will change his ability to passive power and make the flaws and energy realistic ^w^

[I noticed the change to the 'poioson' element, so good touch there. I'm extremely sorry to keep jumping back and forth on it, I just honestly never expected anyone to try and bring in this sort of thing, so I've been having to work out how it might be in play xD. I might allow the poison to stay though... the indirect poison is what I keep coming back to. I'd like it if it could only pass once (plant to animal, or animal to larger animal), and only actually work on smaller animals-- humans would be unaffected, while like... gryphons and the like would be somewhat resistant but it'd still slow them up by quite a bit. The direct one does look to be fairly balanced though, so I'll let it be tried out.]

[Better Smile Though if there is any sort of fatal wound, it can't be healed without probably killing the dragon himself-- like I said, the basic rule for healing is that it takes as much energy as the body would naturally spend in fixing it. For something that can't be fixed... yeah, it takes more xD I'll go add this in the OP though, if anyone else was looking into it, and I'm sorry again for not having thought this bit out sooner D:]

Skylands-- Dragon Rider rp Empty Skylands--Alara's Form

Post  Guest Sat Sep 15, 2012 11:37 pm

    Username:
    SpartanAmethyst; either Spartan or Ami.
    Character name:
    Alara Seraph
    Gender:
    Female
    Age:
    18
    Personality:
Silent and cautious, Alara is more of the shy but confident type. She knows her limitations and prefers not to go outside of them, typically only staying within the confines of things that are familiar to her. Despite her cautious nature, though, she's always very friendly and welcoming. She always has a smile for everyone, and does like to meet new people and every once and awhile she's willing to find an adventure. She's typically a very happy girl, loyal as a pit bull, and will stand by what she believes until her dying breath.
On her down side, though, she prefers to keep her problems to herself. She can be a little reclusive every now and again, and may run away from things she thinks are scary or not familiar to her. She's not too fond of change, and any major alterations to life can result in her becoming nervous and a bit distant from others.
    Appearance:
Tall but very light, barely hitting the 120 lb mark. She has a good bit of strength, though her leg and arm muscles are more developed towards running and climbing. This causes her to be weak when it comes to hand-to-hand combat and tests of strength. Her skin is tanned from many days spent in the sun, her face delicate with fine features and soft eyes. Her lips are somewhat small, but they're usual in a welcoming smile to anyone she meets. Her eyes are a vibrant crystal blue, and her long straight hair is a golden brown color and typically tied back into a pony tail. On the black band that ties her hair back is a crystal dragon's head, an accessory passed down to her from her great grandmother, who made it in her husband's forge. She typically wears jeans and a black tank top, nothing very fancy but more practical than anything.(Correct me on the clothes if I'm wrong <3)
    History:
Born into a normal family, not rich but not poor, Alara didn't really have much of an outstanding bloodline. Her mother was a "stay at home" mom, her father a watchmaker by trade. She was the second born of four children, an older brother and two younger (twin) sisters. She was pretty popular school, being very pretty as well as very kind. She had many friends from all different walks of life, so she was never alone unless she wanted to be.
In "high school", she was a star athlete. Her light body made her excellent on the track, a runner with both speed and endurance. She was confident in her abilities to run, and that won her quite a few medals, I suppose. Alara was very social despite her quiet nature, and was constantly going out with friends (though no relationships ever went farther than that). She graduated the month she turned 18, and contented herself with helping her father in the shop.
On her 18th birthday, however, her older brother entered her name into the academy as more of a joke than anything. When Alara received the message, she thought it was a glitch or a prank. When she contacted the academy and found the acceptance to be real, she sought out her brother for an explanation. the entire family was overjoyed, of course; Alara was going to be a rider! Alara, though, was the cautious one, but she didn't dare disappoint her parents. She slept on it, and the next morning, she packed her bags to move to the Rider Academy.
    Elemental affinity:
    Wind
    Powers:

    • 1. Light Feet
Her passive power is light feet; she moves silently and easily in most terrains, making her very good at sneaking around undetected.
    • 2. Cyclone
An attack of varying damage. At it's least, it can stir up dirt and sand to reduce visibility; at its strongest, it can pick up debris that can cause damage and can throw a dragon in flight off balance. The more powerful the variant, the more energy and concentration she uses up. She prefers not to use this attack because it makes her very tired very easily.

Other: She loves to use miniature bursts of wind to tease people or play a form of "tag" with her dragon.
Theme song? "Chasing the Sun" by the Wanted.
    ---------------
    Dragon information:
    Name:
Daemon; it's a Greek name translating to "guardian spirit".
    Gender:
    Male
    Personality:
Quiet more out of being antisocial, Daemon is more of the type to listen and learn rather than speak. He prefers to remain mysterious and learn about others, studying both their strengths and weaknesses. Typically a very emotionless individual, the only person he ever shows emotion to is Alara. He's very loving and attached to her, and he's very loyal. His stern blue eyes mirror her softness when they look at each other. The one thing he's not afraid to do is nuzzle her in public, as he's very possessive and can tend to be very aggressive when someone threatens her.
    Appearance:
As an egg, his shell was white with tendrils of sky blue creating a complicated pattern across the smooth surface.
I am creating his full grown reference as we speak. I'll have it up soon.
    Elemental affinity and powers:
    He's Wind as well.
    Powers:

    • 1. Wind Slash
A fast and effective attack of claws against his enemy.
    • 2. Stability
Passive ability. Gives him stronger wings and a greater sense of balance, making him twice as hard to knock out of the sky. It also gives him greater speed, though his endurance is unaffected.

    Other: None.

(Not bad, but I would like to see a few more negative traits on your character-- as it is, there don't seem to be any major physical or character flaws in her. Both characters also need to have one power removed-- I will allow more abilities to develop later on, but the rules clearly outline what all characters may have: two passive abilities, or one passive and one active, or two active abilities. You can't start off with three. Also, the regeneration ability will not be allowed, period, not as long as Deamon has the wind element. There's just no connection there, it'd be something more suited to earth or light-based abilities.

ETA: Dracos, the last bit also applies to you, I noticed your characters also have three powers each xD Just remove one on each. Your history also needs a small amend-- she can't be the best in hand-to-hand combat in the Academy *they haven't even entered the Academy yet is all xD Though, since you brought it up, I actually can't imagine any reason they would teach that there. The only real combat training they'd have would deal exclusively with working on dragonback, and possibly some firearms training for the big mission to the surface*, but I will allow for some like, martial arts/self-defense training if you wish ^^ That's all though, once that's done you'll be in.

ETA 2: @Sarill: Looks good Smile Welcome to the rp!)

I'm so sorry about the delay, I've been under a really horrible spell of writer's block... probably due to dreading the coming month xD Anyway, I actually do have a full idea for an intro *sadly, I lost it by navigating away from the page, so I have to re-write it all >.<*, and will edit this post to include it soon.)
