Hello everyone. My name's Verdana. You may know me, you may not. Hi there! If my spelling is different to yours, it's not because I am a delinquent, but it's because I'm a South African and we conform to British spelling conventions rather than American ones.
To get to the point, I am interested in starting a literate Rune Dragon roleplay. I enjoy literate RP, and I know that I'm not the only one in the community. However, before I do so, I was curious as to how many literate roleplayers we have around, just to see how many takers we might have for this idea.
So, what is literate roleplay? Just in case you are unsure where you fall, or suspect that you are borderline:
Literate roleplayers are, of course, expected to be literate. This means appropriate capitalisation, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure and other grammatical rules.
"hi my name is bob" is most definitely out.
"your very pretty" is also out (unless followed by an exciting common noun, of course).
Literate roleplayers are also expected to be able to create posts over about two hundred words minimum, easily. This does not mean that you can force out two hundred words or so to sound smart. This must come naturally, no matter the situation ('Writer's block'? What is this 'writer's block'?) and without undue effort or mental pain.
Literate roleplayers write with appropriate paragraphing and dialogue. They are able to use figures of speech, and they have a distinct personal style, and structure to their posts. A literate roleplayer's writing should be engaging without being cluttered, and their characters should have some sort of depth and insight.
This is my personal definition of a literate roleplayer, but this varies. If you believe that you are literate, please, post right here! I'm sure that you're not going to get yelled at or criticised. I'm simply curious about the number of members here who see themselves in this category.
Please, don't be shy or modest. If you feel that you're literate, come and chat! I'd love to get to know and roleplay with you, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
